Why Nutrition Matters

Good nutrition is the foundation of your dog’s health. The right diet can:

  • Support healthy weight and fitness

  • Improve skin, coat, and digestive health

  • Reduce allergies, yeast issues, and sensitivities

  • Support immune function and longevity

  • Complement rehabilitation and wellness therapies

Many common concerns — from itchy skin to digestive upset — can be improved with appropriate nutrition.

  • Yes, but please let us know in advance so we can allow enough time.

  • No — our goal isn’t to promote one feeding style over another. Instead, we help you choose the most appropriate approach for your dog, your budget, and your lifestyle — whether that’s raw, kibble, gently cooked meals, or a combination.

  • Yes. Nutrition can play a powerful role in managing conditions like allergies, digestive issues, yeast, and weight concerns. We’ll tailor advice to your dogs individual health needs.

  • The WSAVA Body Condition Score (BCS) chart is an internationally recognised tool used to assess whether a dog is underweight, at an ideal weight, or overweight.

It looks at factors such as rib coverage, waist shape, and abdominal tuck rather than relying on body weight alone.

During nutrition consultations, the chart helps guide objective discussions about healthy body condition and supports tailored nutrition and weight-management plans.
