Illawarra’s First Purpose-Built Dog Hydrotherapy Pool

Safe, supportive, heated hydrotherapy sessions designed to relieve pain, improve mobility, and support long-term canine wellness.

Why Hydrotherapy Helps Dogs

Hydrotherapy is a low-impact, non-weight-bearing form of exercise that allows dogs to move safely while reducing stress on joints and soft tissues. The buoyancy of warm water supports the body, enabling improved movement, strength building, and joint mobility — without the impact or strain of land-based exercise.

Hydrotherapy is especially beneficial for dogs with:

  • Osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease

  • Hip or elbow dysplasia

  • Cruciate ligament injuries

  • Pre and post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Senior mobility challenges

  • Obesity and weight management

  • Sports injuries and conditioning

Hydrotherapy FAQ’s

  • No. Hydrotherapy is very different from free swimming. Sessions are carefully controlled and fully supervised by qualified animal health professionals.

Our pool is heated and designed for therapeutic use, not endurance swimming. Dogs wear a secure harness or flotation vest, and our team provides hands-on support at all times to ensure safety, comfort, and confidence.

  • Yes. Hydrotherapy is one of the safest, lowest-impact ways to help senior dogs stay mobile and comfortable.

The buoyancy of the water reduces pressure on stiff or arthritic joints, while gentle, guided exercise helps maintain muscle strength, balance, and confidence — without unnecessary strain.

  • This depends on your dog’s individual needs, goals, and condition.

Some dogs benefit from short-term rehabilitation following injury or surgery, while others attend ongoing sessions for chronic conditions, fitness, or senior mobility. After an initial assessment, we’ll recommend a personalised plan and adjust it as your dog progresses.

  • A vet referral is not always required.

However, if your dog is recovering from surgery, has a complex medical condition, or your veterinarian has recommended hydrotherapy, we’re happy to work alongside your vet to ensure safe, coordinated care.

  • Our approach is calm, gentle, and completely dog-led.

We introduce hydrotherapy gradually, at your dog’s pace, using positive handling and low-stress techniques. Many dogs who are initially unsure become relaxed and confident over time — and some even come to love their sessions.

  • Hydrotherapy can support dogs with a wide range of needs, including:

    • Post-surgical or injury rehabilitation

    • Arthritis and joint conditions

    • Mobility or strength loss

    • Weight management

    • Neurological conditions

    • Senior dog support and preventative care

We tailor every session to suit your dog’s comfort, ability, and long-term wellbeing.
